Dr. Suzi Millar has a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania. She has been licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in NJ since 2016. Dr. Millar has spent the past 11 years working with children, adolescents and adults at multiple levels of care, from inpatient hospitalization, partial hospitalization, and outpatient in schools, hospitals, and community mental health. She completed her pre-doctoral American Psychological Association Accredited internship through Rutgers Health University Behavioral Health Care (UBHC) working with adolescents in a school based setting, and adult female inmates in a correctional facility.
Dr. Millar has several research interests, including acculturation of immigrant populations, and comparing levels of stress among the different generations within the family. She also has a strong interest in mindfulness and has developed a mindfulness based group curriculum for use with adolescents.
Dr. Millar specializes in mood disorders, ADHD, trauma and behavioral issues in children, adolescents, and adults. She has extensive experience working with individuals with self harming behaviors and suicidal thoughts. Dr. Millar ultilizes Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT), mindfulness based interventions, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (DBT). She also works with families on different family stressors, such as family discord, divorce, and loss. Dr. Millar is a nurtured heart certified trainer, and has trained clinicians and school faculty in multiple districts across the state.
Dr. Millar is also currently a Program Manager for Rutgers UBHC, where she leads several school based teams in both in district and out of district schools throughout the state.
She is fluent in Arabic.
